Our Commitment To Recycling
As an industry leader in waste disposal, BFI has developed customized successful recycling programs for the commercial and industrial sectors as well as create and expand our own recycling facility at our yard. Our recycling efforts have two purposes - reduce the amount of waste that is sent to the landfill, and return valuable secondary materials as raw material for industry.
Every day BFI Waste and Recycling Services collects hundreds of tons of recyclables. We collect old corrugated cardboard from factories, retail stores, restaurants and other businesses in the south coast. We collect recyclables from offices, retail outlets, and government agencies. We collect residential recyclables from thousands of homes in the City and County of Santa Barbara and the City of Goleta. The recyclables we collect goes to either the County of Santa Barbara Transfer Station or the Community Environmental Council (CEC). The Transfer station then transfers the material to a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for processing, cleaning, inspection and final shipment to an end user.
We are proud of providing the critical part to complete the recycling loop so materials are reused and new products are manufactured.
